Caulerpa lentillifera, or "Green Sea Grape" is a fast-growing green macroalgae recognized for its upright fronds covered in tiny bead-like bubbles that resemble bunches of grapes. In nature it spreads across sand and rubble in shallow tropical waters, sending out runners that anchor with root-like rhizoids. When grown in aquariums it is one of the fastest nutrient exporters available, pulling excess nitrate and phosphate from the water while adding a natural look. It is an excellent choice for refugiums. Also edible if you dare to try!

This listing is for a healthy runner of Caulerpa lentillifera.

FAQ

Is Green Sea Grape reef-safe?
Yes. Caulerpa lentillifera is reef-safe and one of the fastest nutrient-exporting macroalgae available. It grows quickly, so a refugium is ideal; in a display, trim it regularly so it doesn't spread over rockwork or corals. Never dispose of Caulerpa in natural waterways.
What lighting and water conditions does Green Sea Grape need?
Low to moderate light (50–200 PAR) from reef lighting or LED, low to moderate flow, salinity of 1.024–1.026, and temperatures of 72–80°F.
What size runner will I receive?
A healthy runner roughly 6–8" long, similar to the product photos. Lay it on sand or rubble, or lightly tuck the runner into rockwork, and it will anchor itself with its rhizoids.
Why would my Caulerpa turn white?
Whitening usually means the algae has gone sexual (sporulated), which can be triggered by sudden parameter swings, nutrient depletion, or overgrowth. Harvest regularly, keep conditions stable, and remove any whitening sections promptly.
How does live macroalgae ship?
All orders ship Monday or Tuesday in insulated packaging with heat or ice packs included whenever needed.
