Codium, or "Dead Man's Fingers" is a hardy green macroalgae recognized for its thick finger-like branches and soft velvety texture. In nature it grows attached to rock or hard substrate in shallow coastal waters, forming dense clusters that sway gently in the current. When grown in aquariums it adds a natural reef appearance while also helping absorb excess nutrients from the water.

Ordering macroalgae in bulk is a great option for jumpstarting a large system's refugium or for aquascaping!

FAQ

How much Codium comes in a bulk order?

Roughly 16 oz of healthy Codium — enough to jumpstart a large refugium or aquascape a sizable display in one go.

Is bulk Codium good for starting a refugium?

Yes, that's exactly what it's for. A large starting mass of macroalgae begins exporting nutrients immediately instead of waiting months for a small cutting to grow in.

What conditions does Codium need?

Moderate to high light (100–250 PAR), moderate flow, 1.024–1.026 salinity, and 72–78°F. It's one of the hardiest macroalgae available.
